Catalytic activity of some substituted tetraaryl Fe(III) and Mn(III) porphyrin complexes using

tetra ethylammonium periodate oxidant

In the present work  the catalytic activity of some substituted tetraaryl Fe(III) and Mn(III)   porphyrin complexes towards olefin epoxidation with a periodate oxidant tetra ethyl ammonium periodate (TEAPI) is reported. In all reactions epoxidation  and allylic oxidation products were observed in good yields.  Porphyrin complexes of Fe(III) and Mn(III), having  electronegative halogen atoms at β-pyrrole and orthophenyl positions showed preference towards epoxidation than  allylic oxidation. This catalytic  system has a huge potential as an affordable and convenient oxidation system. © Anita Publications. All rights reserved.
